RULES

There may be more rules added to this listed from now through September 1, 2019. Please check back on September 2 for the final list to be sure you know all that you need to for the event.

  • You must be registered to take part. No bandits!

  • You cannot transfer your entry to someone else. Your entry is for you and you alone.

  • You cannot defer your entry to next year. You must compete in the year in which your register.

  • There are no refunds. Much of the funds collected are spent prior to the event.

  • No headphones once the race begins.

  • Cell Phones MUST be carried with you on the bike course they are for emergency calls NOT for music or anything else.

  • No pets allowed in the race or outside the event on or near the course.

  • No littering.

  • No course deviation.

  • No scooters, strollers, or rollerblades.

  • No swimming the course.

  • You MUST wear a life jacket at all times while on the boat course.

  • You MUST wear a helmet at all times (fit properly and buckled) while on the bike. This means before, during, and after. If you are on your bike concerning the Lake Orion Challenge, your help is on a buckled.

  • You MUST wear shoes at all times before, during, and after the event. You can change them but you must always be wearing shoes.

  • You CANNOT draft on the bike. It’s trails, there shouldn’t be a lot of drafting, but just in case, you must ALWAYS keep at least 3 bike lengths between you and the next person.

  • You MUST always pass on the left on the bike and run.

  • There is NO PASSING while coming in and out of the village area on the paved part of the trail. It’s a very short area and just too tight with winding blind turns to make it safe to do so. While on dirt pass all you want.

  • You MUST drop your boat off the day before. For more info click here.

  • You MUST drop off and pickup your own gear. No one else is allowed to. For more info click here.

  • You MUST have your own Government Issued Photo ID to pickup your packet. For more info click here.

  • You MUST have your gear labeled/stickerred with your race number stickers we give you at packet pickup before you can drop anything off. For more info click here.

  • You MUST show your race number stickers and wristband to be allowed to pickup your items after the race.

  • Post race food is Athletes ONLY.

MANDATORY GEAR

  • Kayak, Canoe, or Stand Up Paddle Board

  • Paddle(s) - We do not allow you to use your hand as a paddle.

  • Life Jacket - Properly fitting - Must be worn at all times while on the water.

  • Bike - Mountain, Cross, Hybrid, BMX, Fat Tire, Cruiser are all allowed. We do NOT allow straight up road bikes. This course is almost entirely hard packed trail surface. It is not suitable for a road, triathlon, or TT bike.

  • Bike Helmet - A properly fitting and buckled helmet is required at all times while on your bike before (dropping off if you ride it), during, and after the event (riding to your car).

  • Shoes - You MUST wear shoes at all times. It can be one pair the entire time or a different pair for each part but you must always have shoes on.

  • Race Number Marking - We give you stickers for your kayak, your bike, your bike helmet, and your front and back of your torso. These must be on at all times for identification.

  • Cell Phone - Mandatory ONLY DURING THE BIKE and can only be used for emergencies and NOTHING else.
